The practice is involved in the training of doctors for a career in general practice. Every year, a fully qualified doctor joins the practice for a year to undertake general practice training. Dr Irvine is the practice trainer. As part of the training, consultations may be videoed for analysis. This will only be performed with your written consent and we respect your right to refuse without prejudice. We abide by strict GMC guidelines on the viewing and erasure of tapes.

Several times a year, a medical student will also be attached to the practice usually under Dr Langran’s supervision. You may request not to see this student if you so wish. Whilst we will always respect your wishes without question, please remember that all our GPs were also medical students once!

In our role as a training practice, we may occasionally be visited by representatives from the Northern Regional Postgraduate Medical Education Committee - which may include lay (non-medical) members. Such members also abide by a strict duty of confidentiality. Also, please be aware that your records may be made available to other Health Professionals involved in your care, at the discretion of the GPs.
